Incorrectly labeled. Incorrect back pieces

I am very disappointed in this product. The pieces are labeled incorrectly. Pieces "B" were labeled "C" it came with chips in the wood. And the cardboard back pieces were cut in half. It gave me 5 total back pieces but they don't cover an entire compartment and they are cardboard colored unlike the box picture which shows them as the same colored brown as the rest of the shelf. I need new back pieces to at least make this look presentable, otherwise I will have to just throw it out

There was not parts to put this together. No information as to where you can order replacement parts. ( shouldn't have to buy parts) Looking at the reviews I see they this seems to be an issue of not double checking package to assure the customer gets a quality useable product.

Nice Looking, Sturdy Unit, Very Delicate Finish.

This is a very nice looking unit at first glance. I have the espresso dark brown. Fairly easy to assemble according to my SO. Sturdy materials. Comes with a wall anchor if you would like to use it though we did not. My chief complaint which I feel is VERY significant is that the finish is extremely delicate. I pulled off 2 of the stickers designed to help with assembly and they removed a large amount of the finish. Also, anything you might place on the shelf must be "placed", not slid around because the finish will scratch easily. I almost think this is a Manufacturer's. Defect because I've never seen any piece of furniture with such a delicate finish!! Too bad it will look terrible soon because otherwise it would be a good purchase.

Upon the construction of the shelf the dowels broke through the bottom of the shelf. This was only the start to our disaster. After the construction of the shelf, the only thing left to do was add the panels on the back. Everything is started for you, but upon entering the small nails into the holes, the wood on nearly every panel broke through. Now I'm stuck with two broken shelves that I paid $80 for. Please do not buy this even if the other brand or product costs a little more, the result was not worth the low price.

I don't even want to put a star. My husband tapped in dowels and they broke through. So we thought fine that can be the bottom. Then put some screws in and the boarding started chipping apart. Screwed in another board and the wood split right down the middle. What a waste of money. I even went to the store I bought it from to let them know they should take this crap off their shelves. To make it worse, I know this review won't even make a difference to this company. They don't care about quality so why should they care about the consumers that buy them?!

I was putting together a competitor brand that fell apart and broke in the process. I threw it out and decided to give Closet Maid a try. What a difference! This is super easy to put together. It is far sturdier than the other brand. Wish I had bought it first. I will definitely buy Closet Maid products again.

I purchased this in white and found it very easy to put together- a Philips screwdriver and a hammer and 20 minutes was all it took. Once the backing panels are tacked on, its really pretty sturdy and it looks great in my craft room displaying my yarns. I just purchased the 12 cube one for further yarn storage as well.

This unit is perfect for storing fabric in my sewing room. Assembly tool about half an hour. My only "complaint" is that only 5 of the 9 cubbies have backing. I used a sheet of foamcore to make backs for the others. It looks great in the space.

It took me about an hour to buil up a nine cube. The problem was with step 3 which had me trying to attach a short divider to screws instead of dowels but once I figured it out, my only challenge was pounding the nails without losing my fingers. It looks great in my son's room. All of the clutteris gone. Will definitely buy again.

I purchased this item online. The picture looked like it was a dark laminate, but it actually was much lighter than pictured, and didn't go with anything I own, Unfortunately, this disappointment was the problematic. The directions were very, very poor and the pictures even worse. Because I've assembled numerous other items (e.g., furniture, bikes, electronics, complex toys) I finally was able to discern how the pieces were supposed to be assembled. However, the pegs didn't fit the holes properly (about 50% of the time) and the laminate split in several places despite careful handling. In short, this is a terrible piece of junk that resides, half-assembled, in a local garbage bin. The one positive note was that I didn't have to pay shipping charges. Never again will I purchase anything that is made by Closet Maid.

I bought 3 of these all three the holes weren't drilled the right size. Two of them when screwing in the screws the side panels cracked. one of them was missing four screw caps. And one of the installation packets was all out of order and missing a page. Luckily I had 2 other installation packets. I'm only able to use 2 out of the 3 because the side panel cracked so bad that u can't screw it in.

We bought this to go in our closet in place of a dresser. We got the cloth baskets to go with to hide the personal clothing and so far it has worked pretty well. It went together pretty easy except there are no extra parts included, so when two of the wooden dowels broke we jimmy-rigged the broken ones with wood glue and it worked. The screw covers are a joke- just little plastic caps. And we ended up using a couple of little L brackets to attach it to the wall for stability- hate to have that thing fall over while reaching for clean undies in the morning! Overall, it works for us, but in the end, remember that its just sawdust glued together with a laminate cover.

Would have been nice to have the screw holes on this thing countersunk by the 1/16" thickness of the screw head. The fact that the "screw covers" are sitting off the surface of this product is sadly hilarious. Seriously..? For 4 years as an employee of a major HOME improvement store, I sold ClosetMaid self assembly storage units. I can say with all of my heart that I am embarrassed to have done so. It wasn't until I purchased the 9 Cube Organizer did I realize first hand the quality of the products I spoke so highly of. I purchased two(2) of ClosetMaid's 9 Cube Organizers just to realize how poorly they are constructed with extremely weak materials. My significant other assembled the 2 units while I was away and didn't realize, through lack of experience, how cheap the products were. Unfortunately she discarded all of the packaging so my return options are limited. The 2 units will NEVER be put into service/use as planned as the weak materials not only make them weak but dangerous. I was considering reinforcing the units with metal brackets and 1" x 1" finishing wood but to d o so would double the cost of the units. So as of now, they sit in my hallway as I attempt to find a use for them in a situation where the flimsy boards will not end up bowing and needing reinforcement. As a former employee who sold ClosetMaid product, I cannot recommend strongly enough that this product be avoided at all costs. The saying "You get what you pay for" rings true in regards to these storage units but is taken to new extremes in that they weren't worth the money we spent. Shop around, you can find units of far better quality for not much more than the costs of these units. As a company, I would expect ClosetMaid to be embarrassed of the quality of these units and immediately pull them from market until a better quality product can be designed. ClosetMaid is free to contact me if they are at all concerned with this product.

We bought this in the Cherry finish to organize toys. First of all, the backing of the cubes is cardboard! There are only five cardboard backs included with the nine cube piece which I understand is some sort of style thing for when you add the fabric cubes but please, can't you spare the extra four pieces of cardboard for those of us who want backs on all of the cubes??! Also there are chips in the cherry "finish" already coming off just after we put it together and it wobbles. I am disappointed with this.

I bought this to serve as bedroom storage for myself and my husband. I had to use a hammer to force the dowels into the pre-cut holes because they were too small for them to fit into. One of the horizontal divider pieces was a full inch shorter than the other. I'm taking this back.

Have 2 -9 cubicles already and just bought a 3rd. Easy to put together (they always fit) and have clear instructions. The only 2 improvements I would like are 1. Full semi opaque plastic drawers or partial plastic fabric drawers. We have little ones and it would be nice if the children could "see" what is inside. And 2. Hard Dividers that could go horizontal or vertical inside the cubes maybe with some holes that would accept support rods like Kitchen cabinet shelving, or have a channel for the divider to slip into. I purchased two of these to stack one on top of the other in a narrow living room that didn't have a wall available to put any sort of bookcase or storage unit because of the way the room was designed. I had one narrow wall available that had a furnace vent on it, which was preventing me from putting anything on it. After extensive research, I found this item and decided to give it a try. Because of the open back, it fits in the area and allows the vent to remain unblocked. I purchased two units and put them together quickly and easily by myself in a very short time. I stacked them to make a tall storage area needed in my living room, as this is the main play area for my two young children, 4 and 6 years of age. I purchased several of the fabric drawers and assigned each person in the family a drawer and dedicated several extra drawers for toys, puzzles, books, etc. When I tell you this item had changed my life, I am not exaggerating. We are able to clean up the living room after a day of playing in a matter of minutes. We no longer have hats, gloves, sunglasses, etc all over the floor or missing. This product has an excellent appearance, comes in several colors and is unbelievably affordable. As soon as my sister saw a photo of my units, she purchased one immediately for her house. I stacked them to make a tall storage area needed in my living room, as this is the main play area for my two young children, 4 and 6 years of age.
