Your Field Service Professional, or FSP, will assess your lawn during this first visit and apply the best products to help your lawn get off to a great start. Your lawn will receive the proper nutrients to help develop a stronger plant after the Illinois winter. This application helps to control weeds that commonly germinate and begin growing during winter months, like Clover and Thistle, along with preventing new ones, like Dandelion.

Applying the right fertilizer for your Bloomington lawn along with controlling weeds is just part of an FSP's job. Making sure you are aware of problems or concerns, if any, is an important element of the partnership Spring-Green has with our customers. We rely on you to keep us informed of any weed problems or other lawn and landscape concerns that may occur between visits. By working together, we can help provide you with the lawn you always wanted.

In April, your lawn is growing well, but so are broadleaf weeds. Creeping Charlie, Ground Ivy and many other weeds are competing with your lawn. Having a thick, well-fed lawn will prevent many of these weeds from gaining a foothold. Applying the right amount of fertilizer and controlling weeds is the best thing to do to keep your lawn healthy and growing well. This is the time to raise your mower to allow grass to develop deep roots and keep weeds from germinating.

Your FSP will complete this evaluation either electronically or on paper and provide you a copy. In this assessment, you'll learn how your lawn is progressing this year and what additional services will help your lawn continue to thrive in the conditions unique to Illinois. Some services commonly recommended for the Lower Midwest include Specialty Injections, Tree and Shrub Care, Perimeter Pest Control, Mosquito Control, Core and Overseeding and Flea and Tick Control.

Summer in Normal is when insect activity in your lawn increases and your FSP will check for all lawn pests, including Sod Webworm, Chinch Bugs, Bill Bug Grubs, Annual White Grubs, Army worms and more, and apply the proper nutrients your lawn requires. Mowing and watering properly at this time of year can mean the difference between a good and great lawn. Be sure you follow the recommendations that you receive from your FSP.

Summer weeds like Wild Violet and Violet are some of the toughest weeds to control, but Spring-Green is up to the challenge. Spraying for weeds and applying the right nutrients to keep your lawn healthy during the summer are our main goals. Set your mower to the highest setting during the hottest days of summer. Watering is best in the early morning and never in the evening.

This is the time of year when your lawn heals itself from the pressures of summer heat and dryness. Applying the proper amount of fertilizer will help your lawn improve root growth and build up its strength to endure the harsh and Illinois winter. Fall is the best time to core aerate and overseed your lawn, so ensure these important services are added to your lawn care program.

It is time to put your lawn to bed for the winter. Even though the temperatures are dropping, your lawn's root system continues to grow. A late season fertilization will be stored by the root system to provide for a quicker green-up the following spring. There may still be a few weeds that can be controlled at this time of year, as long as they are still actively growing. Because winter can come early in Illinois, we make sure to complete our late fall visit sometime in November.
